Thank you for taking my call this morning.
The Agency is deeply saddened by the death of Mr Mohini, and this has had a particular impact on those of us who have a close relationship with the taxi industry. Andy Thackwray has asked me to pass on his condolences for both the family and Auckland Co-op, and indeed this comes from all of us here at the Agency.
Some of us have met Mr Mohini in the past, and I note that our records clearly indicate that he is one of those operators who sets very high standards for himself. This is evidenced by Mr Mohini having a clean and unblemished taxi inspection record.
Let me know if there is anything we can do to help.
I intend to be at the funeral on Thursday as a representative for the NZ Transport Agency, but more importantly as a friend to the taxi industry.

My wife Margaret and I are shocked by this tragedy. We urge your Company - and , in fact, all taxi companies - to immediately install protective screens between drivers and passengers in all taxis. Cameras may help in some cases, but it seems to us they are not sufficient. Screens are the only way to go in our opinion.
